WELCOME TO WEEK 4: Staying Focused and Strengthening Progress

You’ve made it to Week 4—an exciting milestone! By now, your dog is likely starting to feel better, and their energy levels are returning. While this is a great sign of healing, it’s also a critical time to stay vigilant and stick to your plan.

This week, we’ll discuss potential challenges, introduce the Figure 8s exercise, emphasize the importance of tracking muscle progress, and review why joint supplements are essential for long-term success.

1. A FRIENDLY WARNING: Stay the Course

Weeks 4–8 are a pivotal phase in your dog’s recovery. At this stage, your dog is feeling less pain and may start acting like they’re ready to return to normal activities. And, let’s be honest, you might be growing a little weary of the restrictions too.

Here’s the truth: Now is not the time to let up.

  • Why? Overconfidence—both yours and your dog’s—can lead to overexertion or injury.
  • The Goal: Safely make it to the 8-week mark before easing up on restrictions.

You’ve worked so hard to get to this point—stay focused, stay patient, and keep following the plan. Your efforts will pay off!

2. FIGURE 8s: Building Strength and Balance

The Figure 8 exercise is a fantastic way to enhance your dog’s strength, coordination, and flexibility. Here’s how to get started:

  1. Start Big: Begin with large, wide circles to make the movement easier on your dog.
  2. Both Directions: Ensure you practice the figure 8 in both directions to promote balanced muscle use.
  3. Progress Slowly: As your dog becomes more comfortable, gradually tighten the circles.

This exercise is simple but highly effective in helping your dog regain mobility and balance.

3. REMEASURE THE MUSCLE: Tracking Progress

Consistency is key, and re-measuring your dog’s muscle every 2–3 weeks is an excellent way to see how far they’ve come.

  • How to Measure:
Use a tape measure to measure the circumference of both hind legs at the midpoint of the thigh.
  • Compare Over Time:
Look back at your initial measurements and any videos you’ve taken. Notice the improvements in muscle tone and strength.

Progress may feel slow, but every small step adds up to big wins.

4. The Importance of Joint Supplements

If you’ve been using GlycanAid® HA, you’re likely beginning to see why this supplement is a game-changer. Here’s what makes it so effective:

  • The 3 Essential Glycosaminoglycans: Glucosamine HCl, Chondroitin Sulfate, and Hyaluronic Acid work together to promote and maintain healthy joints.
  • Natural Anti-Inflammatories: Ingredients like Cetyl Myristoleate and MSM help reduce inflammation and discomfort.
  • Results Timeline: It typically takes 3–4 weeks to see noticeable improvements. Continue with the loading dose for a full six weeks before transitioning to maintenance dosing.
